Home Sweet Home
Trammell Stadium is the fifth home of the Scottsboro Wildcats since 1913.
The first football field for the then-Jackson County High School football team was located between South Broad Street and Scott Street near where Heilig-Meyers Furniture is located now.
The next home for the Wildcats was “Hunt Field” because it was located on the Hunt Dairy Farm near where Unclaimed Baggage is. The earliest newspaper account of Hunt Field is found in the 1922 stories of Wildcat football.
In 1931, Jackson County High School began play at “Alumni Field” near where Carter Gymnasium (former home of Scottsboro Basketball) is and located next to the old high school. From there, the next home field was located on ground where the Rec-Com is now. The Wildcats played there through the 1970 season.
In 1971, Trammell Stadium was opened and remains the home of Scottsboro Wildcat football. The stadium was named for the Trammell family and former Wildcat and University of Alabama standout Pat Trammell.
